During our first visit, the main focus will be on your symptoms of concern and treatment goals. You’ll be asked about your medical history, current and past medication trials, mental health history, and lifestyle. You’ll also be asked about your past experiences with psychotherapy and psychiatry, and this will help us shape a treatment plan that will best suit your individual needs and preferences. You’ll come away from this consultation with an idea of possible medications and psychotherapy modalities that could help you achieve your desired outcomes. This initial visit could be a one-time consultation or would act as a first intake visit to establish our work together.

After our initial meeting, you’ll have the option to meet for weekly or biweekly 30 minute sessions which incorporate psychotherapy and medication management, allowing for a deeper understanding of the issues at hand. We’ll explore any thought patterns, habits, or unconscious beliefs that might be getting in your way, and how medication can be used as a tool to help support lasting change. We’ll take the time to walk through things so that you’re comfortable with your medication plan, treatment alternatives, and diagnosis. We might meet like this for a few weeks, a few months, or longer— and then meet less frequently to check in and track progress.

Once you’re tucked in with a treatment plan and seeing progress, or if you have straightforward medication management needs, a 15 minute visit might be right for you. We’ll use this time to make any medication adjustments that might be necessary, refill meds, and check in about your treatment goals including when it might be time to come off of the medication. In some cases, med checks can be spaced out to every 3 months; for other types of medications, med checks need to be done monthly. Some medications require bloodwork or other medical testing to be done through a lab (i.e. LabCorp or Quest) and I can order these tests and review the results with you.
